Metal is a genre that I'm fascinated by and, admittedly, incredibly ignorant about. In most cases I'm uncomfortable trying to even write about it with any pretense of knowledge about any given subgenre, band, album, song, riff, or note.
This feature allows me to write about metal while completely absolving myself of some fake sense of expertise. I take metal, one sample at a time, section it, observe it under a microscope, and document my findings. This is the Metallurgical Evaluation, baby!
